Coagulation tissue factor induced.PIVKA sensitive actual/Normal
Measures blood clotting time using a sensitive method for detecting vitamin K-dependent factor abnormalities.
Why This Biomarker Matters
This test identifies vitamin K deficiency and liver disease with high sensitivity. Results guide treatment decisions for anticoagulation therapy and monitor liver synthetic function in patients at risk.
Overview
This specialized prothrombin time (PT) test uses PIVKA (proteins induced by vitamin K absence) sensitivity to detect vitamin K deficiency and liver disease with greater precision than standard PT tests. The test measures how long blood takes to clot and compares it to normal. Elevated results indicate impaired clotting factor synthesis, suggesting vitamin K deficiency, liver dysfunction, or anticoagulant therapy. This test is useful for monitoring liver health and anticoagulation management in specialized clinical settings.
