Neutrophil cytoplasmic Ab pattern
Identifies specific patterns of antibodies against neutrophil proteins using immunofluorescence microscopy.
Why This Biomarker Matters
ANCA patterns help diagnose systemic vasculitis, which can cause organ damage if untreated. Early diagnosis and treatment prevent serious complications affecting lungs, kidneys, and other organs.
Overview
Neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) are antibodies your immune system produces against proteins in white blood cells. This immunofluorescence test identifies patterns (typically c-ANCA or p-ANCA) associated with autoimmune vasculitis—inflammation of blood vessels. A positive result suggests conditions like granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) or microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), which require prompt treatment. ANCA testing is crucial for diagnosing and monitoring these serious autoimmune conditions.
