Why This Biomarker Matters
Amniotic fluid urate levels help assess fetal kidney function and metabolic health during pregnancy, detecting potential complications early.

Overview
This test measures urate (uric acid) levels in amniotic fluid during pregnancy. Urate is a breakdown product of purine metabolism. Elevated amniotic fluid urate may reflect fetal kidney function or metabolic status. This specialized test is used in prenatal assessment to evaluate fetal well-being and detect certain metabolic disorders or kidney dysfunction in the developing fetus.
