This test measures IgG4 antibodies to American cockroach allergens, a different immune response than the IgE-mediated allergies. IgG4 antibodies may indicate chronic or repeated exposure to cockroach allergens. Elevated IgG4 levels can be associated with allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis, or atopic dermatitis triggered by cockroach exposure. This marker is useful in diagnosing cockroach allergies and assessing the effectiveness of allergen avoidance or immunotherapy treatments over time.
This test detects IgE antibodies against American cockroach allergens in your blood. IgE is an immune protein produced when your body reacts to a substance it perceives as threatening. If present, it indicates you have or may develop an allergic reaction to cockroach exposure, which can trigger asthma, allergic rhinitis, or skin reactions. Cockroach allergies are common in urban environments and can worsen indoor air quality sensitivity. This test helps guide avoidance strategies and allergy management.
